We congratulate Maysville High School on their Week 5 promotion to Scholastic B.
Maysville is a 2A school with an average graduating class of 40 students and is located in the heart of farm country in northwest Missouri. The Maysville Winter Guard is in its 4th year performing with MCCGA and has nine members, two of whom are 8th graders. The unit is directed by Dana Walling and assisted by Joy Bourquin.
This year’s program is entitled “Pompeii”. In 79AD Mount Vesuvius erupted with a deadly cloud of volcanic gas, stones and ash destroying Pompeii, Italy and killing all the inhabitants who did not flee. The show is choreographed to excerpts from “Messa da Requiem” written by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi and recorded by Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Maysville will perform next at the Grain Valley festival on March 1.
