Important Circuit News Update
2/15/2010
Dear MCCGA Members,
I hope the 3-day weekend finds all of you well.
Just a few quick notes regarding: Back Sideline, Percussion Supershow and
WGI Regional in Kansas City, MCCGA Taping policy and Unit Entrances and
Exits
BACK SIDELINE
Approximately 3 years ago, WGI established a back boundary. This rule is
often a surprise to many, but is stated in the Contest Rules section in both
the guard and percussion WGI Adjudication Manual. (section 2 in guard,
section 3 in percussion) This rule will be established at all MCCGA shows
with no further warnings given to units. WGI is very strict on this rule, so
please take note . A back boundary will be taped at all shows. It is up to
the director to understand where that is at and let your performers know.if
you are planning on participating at any WGI events. Any performer that
steps outside that line will result in a .1 penalty per occurrence. As
always the front boundary is inviolate.
PERCUSSION SUPERSHOW
Percussion Units attending the Blue Springs South Percussion Supershow this
weekend (2-20), please make sure you read the site information and warm-up
schedule posted on the MCCGA website. http://www.mccga.org/festivals/2010/22010BSSPercSUPER.htm
Please note that the school has a set of brand new glass doors at the
drop-off area. Please tell your members to take extra caution when moving
equipment through these doors.
KANSAS CITY WGI GUARD REGIONAL
Staff Admittance at WGI Events: Guard Units attending the KC
WGI Guard Regional this weekend (2-20), please note that per WGI policy
7 staff members will be admitted. The MCCGA Directors Pass is part of
that 7, so please plan accordingly. Any staff/support personnel above
the 7 will need to may the general admission price at check-in or the
main door.
Also per WGI policy - NO VIDEO TAPING ALLOWED. Each unit will
receive one pass for someone to tape in the designated video area. No
other taping is allowed, so please let your parents and support staff
knows this. Finals performances will be available later the following
week on the WGI Fan Network at www.wgi.org
Floor Folding at Regional - Guards will exit to the outside as
in the past at this site. As the units exit, they can proceed to their
right down a sidewalk to the parking lot in the back (near the prop
drop-off area). You are more than welcome to use that area to fold. Due
to the snow, the ground directly outside the exit is a bit muddy. If you
would like to use the break between prelims and finals to refold your
floor inside in either the warm-up gym or main gym, you may do so, but
will be asked to vacate the area at 6:00. First come - first served
WGI Regional Admission pricing $14 for prelims/$14 for finals
or $20 Combo all day - please let your parents and support personnel
knows this pricing. Cash or Checks payable to MCCGA will be accepted.
All seats are general admission.
WGI Qualifying Score for finalist eligibility - A minimum of
65.5 must be achieved the weekend of Feb. 20th for any unit in any class
to be considered for finals at the KC WGI Guard Regional. (p. 71 WGI
Color Guard Adjudication Manual)
MCCGA TAPING & PADDING POLICY
The Taping & Padding Policy - is posted on the MCCGA website - it is the
director's responsibility to be aware of this policy prior to the show.
Festival Hosts will be checking props and equipment, so please have items
taped and protected appropriately. Any props or equipment not properly
taped/padded is subject to penalty.
MCCGA UNIT ENTRANCES & EXITS
As soon as the music stops of the previous performing unit, the next unit is
expected to begin entering to begin their preset. The T&P judge will tell
you when you need to cross the timeline. This is at their discretion, so
please be prepared to move quickly. At a set time, the T&P judge will notify
the announcer to ask if the judges and unit is ready. (percussion 2 minutes,
regional guards 1 minute 15 seconds, all other guards 1 minute 30 seconds)
As a director, make sure you are aware of the timeline and boundaries, so
you can communicate that to your group. Entering the door with your group
and discovering this will be difficult for your students. In addition, once
you have crossed the timeline to exit, please continue to move efficiently
to the exit. If a unit stalls the show at this time, a penalty may still be
occurred.
Thank you to all for making such a wonderful start to the season. We look
forward to the next several weeks!
Safe travels and the best of luck to all!
