June 8, 2009Dear MCCGA Members:
Quick note as we go into the summer:
1) The general Membership meeting will be held on
Sunday, August 2nd in Columbia. Start time will announced at a later
date.
2) Potential 2010 Festival Hosts - Download the festival host
application for the 2010 season
here.
Please note if you are interested in applying for the Kansas City Color
Guard Regional on Feb. 20th or either the guard or percussion
championships on March 27th you will need to complete this same form. If
you are selected to host one of these events, you will receive further
information that will need to be signed off on.
Deadline for applications is August 2nd (with the exception of
the regional - see below). A Festival Host meeting will be required
this year on August 2nd prior to the general membership meeting. An
exact time will be announced soon. If you are interested in hosting a
festival a representative from your school must attend this meeting.
3) Show schedule - If you open the attached Host application
form, you will also notice a tentative schedule of shows based on area
(sites will be announced later). Please note that it is not possible to
avoid conflicts with district music events/prom/etc. with Championships
as well as other shows. Due to the large area we cover this is not
possible, and we understand that some will encounter conflicts.
4) Kansas City Color Guard Regional will be held on
Saturday, February 20th. Any Kansas City area school that has at
least 18 rows of seats in their gym is welcome to apply. If you are
interested and able to host this event, please contact me by June 28th
at president@mccga.org . An
Application to Host is due by July 1st.
5) Proposals are now being accepted for the 2010 season.
Please email those to me no later than July 18th.
Proposals will not be accepted no later than that. These will be
discussed and voted upon at the August 2nd meeting.
6) Nominations for the following positions are also being
taken to be voted on August 2nd:
- Vice-president
- Treasurer
- Public Relations (to serve one year - remainder of term)
- Percussion Coordinator Kansas City Representative
Thank you and have a great summer,
Ann Duncan
MCCGA President
What's MCCGA?
The Mid-Continent Color Guard Association (MCCGA) is a winter color guard
and percussion circuit serving independent and scholastic guards and
percussion lines from Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma,
Arkansas, and Iowa. Now entering our 15th year, the MCCGA offers an
educational and competitive arena where young adults learn character
building, confidence and professional skills for a lifetime.
Through equipment, movement and design, the MCCGA takes
members and their audiences on life-changing journeys, discovering
new talents, skills, friendships and accomplishments along the way. Read
